Durham Gamelan had an artist in residence a few years ago when Pamela Parrish created paintings incorporating portraits of gamelan players, gamelan instruments and shadow puppets used in Javanese wayang (musical shadow play).

Following a joint gamelan performance and art exhibition, the paintings are now on permanent display in the gamelan rehearsal space.
